Serge Gainsbourg was a French singer, songwriter, pianist, film composer, poet, painter, screenwriter, writer, actor, and director. He made his recording debut in 1958. His famed recordings include the 1968 album Bonnie And Clyde with Brigitte Bardot, which includes the popular song of the same name, and his work with Jane Birkin on the album Jane Birkin & Serge Gainsbourg in 1969. His most popular song with Jane Birkin, Je t'aime moi non plus, was released during this period. He released the album Histoire de Melody Nelson in 1971. His other popular songs include La chanson de Prévert. Gainsbourg also appeared in films such as Samson, The Unknown Man of Shandigor, and Slogan.
